Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Receive Major Software Update

Meta has rolled out a significant new software update for its Ray-Ban Display smart glasses. The update adds several useful features and improves the overall user experience.

Users can now compose messages easily with Neural Handwriting. This feature works with Meta’s Neural Band and supports finger gestures for typing in Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and default messaging apps on both Android and iOS.

The update also introduces a powerful display recording tool. It combines the glasses’ screen content, camera feed, and audio into one complete video. Additionally, turn-by-turn navigation now works across the United States and in major cities including London, Paris, and Rome.

Meta has expanded Live Captions to WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram Direct. The tool transcribes conversations during calls and face-to-face interactions. It also supports voice commands within these apps.

Developers gain exciting new opportunities through the developer preview program. They can build standalone web apps using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. They can also extend existing mobile apps to the glasses and add interactive elements such as text, images, buttons, and video.

Since its launch in September 2025, the Ray-Ban Display glasses have received four software updates. These updates added helpful widgets for weather, calendar, stocks, reminders, and quick access to Spotify and Instagram Reels.

Meta plans to release more improvements and new AI features later this year. The company will introduce Muse Spark, a new AI model designed specifically for wearable devices, in the coming summer.

This latest update makes the Ray-Ban smart glasses more practical and developer-friendly. Users can expect even richer experiences in the months ahead.
