4G Smartphones Likely to Make a Strong Comeback in India
Several smartphone brands plan to launch new 4G-only handsets in India soon. This development comes after Redmi and Poco recently introduced budget 4G models. Moreover, the move addresses rising prices caused by memory and storage chip shortages.
Tipster Yogesh Brar shared this information on X. He claimed that many companies will release new 4G phones between July and September. Additionally, these devices will target the mid-range segment under Rs. 25,000. This timing allows brands to prepare for the upcoming festive season.
Recent 4G Launches by Xiaomi Sub-Brands
Redmi launched the A7 Pro 4G model in April at Rs. 11,499. The phone features 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Furthermore, the standard Redmi A7 4G arrived at Rs. 10,499. Poco followed with the C81 at Rs. 10,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant. The C81x model came at Rs. 9,999.
These launches highlight renewed interest in 4G technology. Moreover, brands now position these phones as affordable options amid increasing 5G device prices.
Reasons Behind the 4G Comeback
Smartphone makers continue to face higher component costs. Specifically, DRAM and NAND flash prices have risen sharply. Therefore, many companies raised prices of existing models and new 5G phones. As a result, 4G handsets become attractive alternatives for budget-conscious buyers.
Furthermore, a large number of users in India still prefer 4G due to network coverage and lower data plans. Consequently, manufacturers see strong market potential in this segment.
What to Expect Next
The upcoming 4G phones will likely offer better specifications than previous budget models. They may include larger batteries, improved displays, and decent performance for daily tasks. However, exact details about brands and models remain under wraps for now.
This trend shows that 4G technology still holds relevance in the Indian market. Moreover, it provides more choices for consumers facing higher smartphone prices. Buyers can expect several new options before the festive season begins.
The market will closely watch how these 4G launches perform against rising 5G adoption in the country.
