Microsoft Enhances Teams with New AI Tools and Features
Microsoft rolls out exciting updates for Teams. The company introduces AI-powered meeting tools, better chat organization, and improved guest invitations. These changes help teams collaborate more effectively. Moreover, they make meetings smoother and more productive.
One standout feature is the AI Facilitator. It analyzes conversations during meetings. It quickly identifies knowledge gaps among participants. Furthermore, it detects moments when people feel confused or need extra context. The AI then generates helpful responses using web search. It posts these answers directly in the meeting chat.
Administrators can control the feature easily. It remains disabled by default. Users also have a dedicated toggle to turn off all AI meeting capabilities. Additionally, guests will not access this tool. Only organizers and participants can use it.
Microsoft expands AI-generated meeting notes to Teams Rooms on Windows. Previously, this worked only for scheduled online meetings. Now, it supports in-person meetings as well. Users simply select the Take notes option. The system then creates real-time summaries. It records key decisions and automatically suggests action items. This feature will arrive first in August. The wider rollout will follow in October.
Teams also improves chat organization. It adds two new sections called Muted and Meeting chats. These sections automatically sort conversations into clear categories. As a result, users find important messages faster.
Guest invitations receive a useful upgrade too. They will now come from the organizer’s own email address. This change replaces the previous no-reply address. Consequently, invitations appear more personal and trustworthy. Microsoft plans to complete this rollout by the end of the month.
