Google has unveiled Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash. The updated generative AI model adds new video creation and editing tools. It can extend existing scenes. It can also generate footage between a chosen first frame and last frame. In addition, it can use short video references and produce videos at up to 4K resolution.
Google has also added a 360p mode. This option helps users create faster and cheaper drafts. The model is rolling out on Google’s developer platforms. Subscribers can also use it through Google Flow and the Gemini app.
Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash can now study up to 10 seconds of earlier footage when it extends a video. Previous versions could use only the final second of a clip. Developers can add footage in 10-second steps. Extensions can reach a total length of up to 40 seconds. Therefore, creators can continue a sequence while keeping its look and story more consistent.
Developers can also set the start and end of a shot. The model then generates the footage that connects those two frames. This feature supports complex camera moves such as orbits and zooms. It can also create transitions for continuous or looping video.
The model accepts up to three seconds of video as a reference. This helps carry over details such as a character’s appearance and the setting. Google has shown the tool using several reference clips. The aim is to recreate different movements inside one continuous video.
The new 360p option is meant for early testing. Google says these lower-resolution drafts can be created up to 60 percent faster than 720p versions. They also cost about one-third as much. This mode suits rapid prototyping and storyboard work. After a sequence is final, developers can generate it at 1080p or 4K for higher quality.
Developers can use Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash through the Gemini API in Google AI Studio. Enterprise users can build with it through the Agent Platform API. Google has also published documentation, a cookbook and prompting guides for the new video tools.
Google is making the model available worldwide to AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers through Google Flow. Scene extension is also available to these subscribers in the Gemini app. The company said Adobe, Figma Weave, GMI Cloud and Runway are already adding Gemini Omni Flash to their video workflows.
