Samsung Gallery Shifts to Google Cloud Backup

Samsung Gallery will transition cloud backup to Google Photos after ending OneDrive support on September 30.

Samsung Gallery Cloud Sync Listing Points to Google Backup

Samsung Gallery will stop syncing directly with Microsoft OneDrive on September 30. As that date nears, Samsung appears to be preparing a new cloud backup path for the Gallery app. A new version of Gallery Cloud Sync has been spotted on the Galaxy Store. Its description suggests photos and videos can be backed up to Google Cloud. Samsung has not officially announced the integration.

X user Sandeep Adap flagged the Galaxy Store listing. The text hints that Google could become the next cloud provider for Samsung Gallery. Users may then back up content from inside the Gallery app.

Version 1.6.09.31 of Gallery Cloud Sync is said to include a Google Photos integration. Images stored this way could appear in both Samsung Gallery and Google Photos.

If the update ships as described, Gallery would work more like Google Photos. Content would move to Google’s cloud instead of OneDrive. The feature is not fully available yet. Samsung has not confirmed a rollout date.

The service is likely limited to Samsung phones and tablets. It may also require a Samsung account sign-in.

A Google support page says images uploaded from Samsung Gallery to Google’s cloud will also appear in Google Photos. Galaxy users could then open backed-up pictures on other devices.

In May, Microsoft confirmed that Gallery sync with OneDrive will end on September 30, 2026. After that date, Samsung Gallery will no longer sync directly with OneDrive. Photos stored only in OneDrive will also disappear from the Gallery app.
