Google has started rolling out the May 2026 software update for eligible Pixel smartphones. The latest Android 16 build brings several bug fixes and performance improvements. In addition, the update also includes the May 2026 security patch.
The company addressed multiple issues that users reported in earlier software versions. One major fix improves wireless charging performance. Previously, some Pixel devices experienced slower charging speeds when the battery level reached around 75 to 80 percent. Now, Google says the problem has been resolved across several supported models, including older and newer Pixel phones.
Furthermore, the update fixes a camera-related issue on the Google Pixel 10 series. Some users noticed that the camera app froze while recording videos and adjusting zoom levels at the same time. According to Google, the latest software version removes this problem.
The company also improved display stability. Earlier, some Pixel users reported a flickering white dot near the top of the screen under certain conditions. Meanwhile, others experienced fuzzy visuals, frozen displays, or random noise lines appearing on the screen. Google claims the new update fixes these display-related bugs as well.
Along with bug fixes, the software update delivers better overall system stability and smoother performance. However, Google noted that some improvements may depend on the user’s carrier or region. Therefore, certain features or fixes may not appear in every market immediately.
Another major change affects the Google Pixel 10 Pro lineup. Google has added stronger anti-rollback protection to the bootloader in the latest update. As a result, users and developers will no longer be able to downgrade to older Android 16 builds after installing the May 2026 software version. This change applies to devices such as the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold as well.
Pixel smartphone users can manually check for the update through the Settings menu. They need to open System, select Software Update, and then tap “Check for updates.”
