Xiaomi Sets September 23 China Launch for the 18 Pro Series
Xiaomi will unveil its next flagship pair in China this week. The company confirmed the Xiaomi 18 Pro series on Sunday. Two phones are expected: the 18 Pro and the 18 Pro Max.
The event starts on September 23 at 7:00 pm China time. That equals 4:30 pm IST. The wait is now only two days.
Xiaomi is already showing colours and design cues. Buyers should see at least three finishes. Those are Black, White, and a new Starry River Blue. The look stays close to last year’s phones. A second screen still sits on the back. This year Xiaomi calls it the Versatile Back Screen. The company says the rear panel will handle more tasks.
The front display sits inside very thin frames. Bezels measure 0.99 mm. A micro-arc quad-curved metal band wraps the sides.
Xiaomi also outlined the main screen. The 18 Pro uses a flat AMOLED panel. It employs next-generation M11 light-emitting material and new green emitters. The firm claims 20 percent better light efficiency. Peak brightness can reach 4,000 nits. An RGB lossless array is part of the stack. Xiaomi says the panel draws power like a 1.5K screen yet looks as sharp as a 2K display.
A hardware privacy mode is coming as well. The feature works like Samsung’s Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The panel mixes wide-view and narrow-view pixels. When the mode turns on, the wider pixels switch off. The viewing angle shrinks. That should make shoulder surfing harder.
India timing remains unofficial. Tipster Debayan Roy says the Xiaomi 18 series could arrive in December. Xiaomi skipped the Pro models in India last year. The company has not confirmed any local date. That claim should stay tentative for now.
Xiaomi has not posted full specs or prices yet. Those details should land at Wednesday’s event.
