Xiaomi Launches 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China with Dual Screens
Xiaomi has launched its new flagship pair in China. The phones are the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Both keep a dual-screen layout. A second display sits beside the rear camera module. Internals and cameras are new. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series powers both models. Each phone uses a triple rear camera. RAM goes up to 16GB. Storage goes up to 1TB.
Both are dual-SIM devices. They run HyperOS 4 on Android 17.
The 18 Pro has a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED screen. Resolution is 1,120 x 2,436. Refresh rate reaches 120Hz. Touch sampling reaches 300Hz. Peak brightness is listed at 4,000 nits. The panel covers DCI-P3.
The Pro Max uses a 6.9-inch AMOLED screen. Resolution is 1,208 x 2,624. It shares the 120Hz, 300Hz touch, 4,000-nit, and DCI-P3 claims.
Privacy Display is new. It narrows the viewing angle. Nearby viewers then see less of the screen.
The rear screen is slightly larger on the Pro Max. The 18 Pro has a 2.7-inch AMOLED panel at 596 x 912. The Pro Max has a 2.9-inch panel at 596 x 976. Both rear screens match the main displays for refresh rate and peak brightness.
The 18 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The Pro Max uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both are 2nm octa-core chips with a peak clock of 5GHz. They pair with a new Adreno GPU, up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The rear cameras are the same on both phones. The main camera is 200 megapixels with an f/1.67 lens and OIS. A 200-megapixel periscope telephoto uses an f/2.4 lens and OIS. The ultrawide camera is 50 megapixels with an f/2.4 lens and a 102-degree field of view. Video can reach 8K at 30fps. The front camera is 50 megapixels.
Batteries differ. The 18 Pro has a 7,000mAh cell. The Pro Max has an 8,500mAh cell. Both support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Wired reverse charging reaches 27W.
Connectivity includes 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0. A USB-C port is included. Satellite systems listed are GPS, GLONASS, QZSS, NavIC, and Galileo. Unlock options include an in-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock.
The 18 Pro measures 151.8 x 72 x 8.46 mm and weighs about 203 g. The Pro Max measures 163.39 x 77.6 x 8.39 mm and weighs about 235 g.
China prices for the 18 Pro start at CNY 5,999, or about Rs 86,000, for 12GB + 256GB. Other options run to CNY 8,999, or about Rs 1,29,000, for 16GB + 1TB. A transparent 16GB + 1TB model is CNY 9,999, or about Rs 1,43,000.
The Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999, or about Rs 1,00,000, for 12GB + 256GB. The 16GB + 1TB model is CNY 9,999, or about Rs 1,43,000. Its transparent version is CNY 10,999, or about Rs 1,57,000.
Sales are through Xiaomi’s China online store. Colours are Black, Ice Peach Pink, Starry Blue, and White. India pricing has not been announced.
