Vodafone Idea Launches India’s First Prepaid Family Plan with Data Sharing
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced a new prepaid family plan in India. Subscribers can now share mobile data with other group members. They continue to use their existing recharge plans and validity. The company calls this India’s first prepaid family plan. It also offers assured recharge discounts of up to 10 percent through the Vi app.
Customers can create a family group of up to four members. This includes one primary account holder and up to three secondary members. The primary member sets up the group through the Vi app and invites other eligible Vi prepaid numbers. All members keep their current prepaid plans. Data sharing and recharge discounts work as additional benefits.
Any eligible member can transfer 500MB of data to another person in the same group. Vi states that the feature works across India. It does not depend on state or telecom circle. However, the company has set clear limits on transfers. Each member can share data once a day, up to twice a week, and four times in a calendar month. The transferred data stays valid until 11:59 pm on the day it is received. The sender must also have at least 600MB available in their main data balance. Both the sender and the recipient need an active service-validity pack.
Certain data balances cannot be shared. These include data from add-on packs, promotional packs, weekend data rollover, Data Delight, and some OTT-linked or other excluded balances.
The plan also brings savings on recharges. Eligible family members receive assured discounts of up to 10 percent on every recharge made through the Vi app. Family groups can only be created and managed through the Vi app.
The new prepaid family plan lets Vi users share data when someone runs low. At the same time, it adds recharge discounts while members keep their existing plans. Subscribers can check the Vi app for eligibility and full terms.
