MSI has now confirmed the pricing for its latest device. The new Claw 8 EX AI+ handheld will cost $1,799 in the US. This price equals roughly Rs. 1,70,000. The company listed the device on its official US store website.
MSI unveiled the Claw 8 EX AI+ at Computex 2026 earlier this month. It runs on the powerful Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor. Moreover, it features 32GB of RAM and comes with Windows 11 installed.
However, the company faced challenges in controlling costs. MSI product marketing lead Andy Chu explained the situation. “We have tried every approach to get the memory and storage at a lower cost,” he said. Additionally, the team deepened relationships with suppliers and pursued various deals. Despite these efforts, the final price reflects current market realities.
Chu described the year as tough for manufacturers and gamers alike. He noted that Intel and OEMs like MSI encountered real difficulties. Still, the premium handheld targets enthusiast consumers. These users seek top performance without compromise.
In comparison, Valve recently raised Steam Deck prices due to similar cost pressures. The Steam Deck OLED 512GB model now sells for $789. Meanwhile, the 1TB version costs $949. Earlier, these models launched at lower prices.
Furthermore, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ delivers a significant performance upgrade. It uses the Intel Arc B390 graphics. It also includes 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a spacious 1TB M.2 2280 SSD.
The device boasts an 8-inch FHD+ touchscreen. This display offers a 1920×1200 resolution. Moreover, it supports a variable refresh rate from 48Hz to 120Hz and reaches 500 nits peak brightness. An 80Whr battery powers the system. Additionally, it includes Xbox mode for a familiar console-like user interface.
